Projects

NetHub contributes to reshaping the health innovation ecosystem across Southeast Europe and beyond by working at two complementary levels: supporting individual research and innovation projects and driving wider ecosystem and capacity-building initiatives.

Through this dual approach, we translate research and early-stage innovation into real-world impact while strengthening collaboration, capabilities, and connectivity across the health innovation landscape.

Research and Innovation

UNCAN-Connect

UNCAN-Connect

The UNCAN-Connect project (Decentralized Collaborative Network for Advancing Cancer Research and Innovation) is developing a decentralised, secure and interoperable ecosystem for accessing and reusing cancer data across Europe. This Horizon Europe flagship project is building an open-source UNCAN.eu platform and validating it through six major cancer use cases: paediatric, lymphoid, pancreatic, ovarian, lung and prostate cancers. By enabling better data integration and cross-sector collaboration, UNCAN-Connect supports the EU Cancer Mission’s goal of improving outcomes for patients.

EU4MEDTECH

EU4MEDTECH

EU4MEDTECH (European Framework for Advanced Medical Technology Evaluation and Follow-up) is a Horizon Europe project dedicated to strengthening how high-risk and innovative medical devices and in vitro diagnostic devices are evaluated and regulated across Europe. The project is developing the EU4MEDTECH Framework, a lifecycle-based approach to clinical and performance evidence generation, evaluation, and validation, supported by a digital platform designed to provide user-friendly tools for relevant stakeholders and streamline regulatory processes across pre-market and post-market stages.

Cross-Border HealthTech Venture Builder

Cross-Border HealthTech Venture Builder

The Cross-Border HealthTech Venture Builder project aims to strengthen medtech innovation in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro by designing a cross-border Venture Building programme. It connects MedTech companies and healthcare providers to co-develop new solutions, initially focusing on orthopedics and later expanding to other clinical fields, while fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and practical validation of innovations across the region.

Research and Development of Microencapsulated Pollen for the Modulation of Small Intestine Microbiota

Research and Development of Microencapsulated Pollen for the Modulation of Small Intestine Microbiota

NetHub is a partner on Research and Development of Microencapsulated Pollen for the Modulation of Small Intestine Microbiota project, co-funded by ERDF, responsible for for validating the concept and preparing a feasibility study. The project focuses on developing microencapsulated corn poppy pollen, an innovative dietary supplement aimed at alleviating symptoms of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. By using advanced microencapsulation technology, the stability and targeted release of bioactive compounds are ensured, enabling greater effectiveness compared to probiotics and prebiotics. This disruptive innovation contributes to the advancement of personalized medicine and strengthens the health innovation ecosystem in Adriatic Croatia.

Large Scale Partnership – European Health Industry

Large Scale Partnership – European Health Industry

Launched under the Pact for Skills and backed by the European Commission, the Large Scale Partnership for the European Health Industry brings together stakeholders from across the European health ecosystem, including healthcare providers, industry, universities, and innovation actors. The partnership addresses growing skills gaps in the health sector driven by demographic change, increasing healthcare demand, and rapid technological, green, and digital transitions.

The partnership aims to create a shared model for skills development in the European health industry by strengthening skills intelligence, supporting upskilling and reskilling, and aligning training programmes with real industry and healthcare needs. Key focus areas include adaptation to technological advancements, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and resilient supply chains.

Adriatic Croatia – UK Healthtech

Adriatic Croatia – UK Healthtech

The Adriatic Croatia-UK Healthtech project, funded by the British Embassy, connects key healthcare stakeholders from Croatia and the UK to strengthen collaboration, promote knowledge exchange, and support the commercialization of healthcare innovations. Through activities like the Adria HealthTech conference, the project fosters cross-border dialogue and partnerships, aiming to bridge gaps between academia, industry, and healthcare providers. The conference brings together diverse stakeholders to create opportunities for networking, spark new collaborations, and showcase innovative healthcare solutions. Additionally, matchmaking between research groups and SMEs from both countries will support the formation of consortia for Horizon Europe applications, with at least seven new collaborative proposals expected to emerge from these connections.
